The Vent is hosting Sam Demaris this weekend!

When you’re watching Sam Demaris, you never know what to expect. His performances are very fast-paced, very high-energy and will often leave audiences wondering, “did he just say what I think he said?” The answer is yes. He started his comedy career in Houston, Texas and in 2002, he took home the gold in the Houston Laff Stop’s “Houston’s Funniest Person” competition in which he beat out a total of 65 other comedic hopefuls. He had only been doing comedy for one year at the time. Since then, Sam has gone on to do countless gigs across the United States as well as a two week tour of Iraq and Kuwait to perform for the United States Army. A mind-blowing honor “you bet your ass I won’t forget”, he says.

Shows are Friday night at 8pm and 10pm. Tickets only $10 each! Laugh Out Loud for real this weekend with Sam Demaris!

A few of our favorite theatres are Dark this week in preparations for upcoming shows….

…..but you can still see West Side Story playing at Harbor Playhouse this weekend!

The world’s greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre’s finest accomplishments. Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the “American” Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Visit the Harbor Playhouse WEBSITE for tickets and additional information!

You can also catch “Dear Edwina, Jr.” at the Port Aransas Community Theatre! Visit their WEBSITE for tickets!

At last a musical that features a cast of nearly all girl performers! Follow the adventures of advice- giver extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple as she directs the kids in the neighborhood in production number after hilarious production number in her “Advice-A-Palooza” extravaganza. Written in the style of Schoolhouse Rock Live! and You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Dear Edwina Junior is the perfect girl power musical for a new generation.

You can also PRE-ORDER your tickets for “The Producers” opening at the Aurora Arts Theatre on July 22nd!

ABOUT THE SHOW
Adapted by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan; Lyrics by Mel Brooks; Music by Mel Brooks and Blen Kelly.

Two theatrical producers scheme to get rich by overselling interests in a Broadway flop.  Complications arise when the show unexpectedly turns out to be successful. The humor of the show is accessible to a wide rang of audiences as it draws on ridiculous  accents and caricatures.

They are working hard at the Rialto Theatre in Aransas Pass preparing for opening weekend of “Lone Star Love Potion” Opening July 14th!

This funny farce is set on a Texas ranch. Rich Edward Stancliffe’s heirs have gathered to read his will. An assortment of neighbors has stopped in, a flash flood is sweeping through town, and love is in the air – or at least in a thermos. It seems that eccentric old Uncle Edward has left behind his company’s secret formula – a thermos full of South American Love Potion. Of course, no one believes in love potions – or do they? As the characters plot and question, hilarious hi-jinks ensue. Nothing is as it seems, but in the end, one thing is certain – The Lone Star Love Potion is packed with laughs as big as Texas!
